[project title:] Zoot Footwear Development
Brian Enge came to us one day to create a document that would help his partners invest in footwear. A few months later, we were penning concepts for Triathlon Race Shoes as well as designing outsoles and determining colors for a $150 pair of racing flats. Calling in a favor from long time friend Harald Belker, he showed what the future of a race shoe could be.
[project title:] eBike Development
What to do when you're in a pinch....call a friend. After landing E-Bike, the first call was to long time friend and uber-desinger Harald Belker. Through many iterations of "what might be", we came up with the E-Bike. The first fully enclosed, hub-motored electric bike of it's kind. It set the bar, high. Still damned proud of this and what might have been.
[project title:] eBike In Store
Sandbox doesn't enter contests. Our production company did. We won. Big. Best of Show for Large Floor Display or something. In any event. this is a great display that holds an E-bike, shows the video and has a "lightning" centerpiece. Voila. We won. Back to work.
[project title:] Prana Trade Show Booths
During an impromptu meeting Beaver says, "We've got 30 days to design and build a new booth for Outdoor Retailer, good luck". Just like one of those ads that promise you'll lose 40 pounds in a month, we promised that the booth would be ready. An outward-facing, curvilinear exo-skeleton was dreamed up, fabricated in recyclable materials and fork-lifted in one piece down the show's halls. Once in place, the booth's curved lines and graceful stance easily stood out from the right-angled, laminate-filled booths that clutter the show.
[project title:] Eagle Creek POP
An exercise in "what if?". Eagle Creek toyed with the idea of "store within a store". Working with friend and designer Harald Belker, we came up with flowing shapes and components that fit the newly branded brand.
[project title:] Eagle Creek Trade Show Booth
A skin job is just what was ordered as we softened the well-used Eagle Creek booth. Using lightweight "tent-type" poles and stretchable fabric, we lifted the face of the booth w/o incurring massive costs. All external/internal graphics were refreshed to implement the new brand position.
[project title:] Rusty Found Art Signage
Under the watchful eye of David Carson, I aimed for something that was distinctively un-foamcore, authentic, a-typical. Graffiti culture, street works, found art projects from San Diego’s downtown industrial areas populated the materials mix. CNC-cut acrylic backing and the R-dot logo came together. Parts were assembled, the switch was flipped and suddenly this quirky little sign was turning heads toward Rusty’s booth. He asked for 100 more. Great start for my first project out of school.
[project title:] Rusty Trade Booth
Summer 1992. Is it still the 80's? By the looks of many of the companies, it felt that way. Sitting across they aisle as Mossimo, before his Target buyout, was still in the Action Sports Market. Add in other like companies and it was easy to see we needed a booth made from real materials. Real brick, real wood, real steel and real glass -- unreal reception. All the peel and stick booths felt it as Rusty's bomb shelter pushed back ... hard.
